So, how do we get there? |
Access to Fraser Island is via Hervey Bay or Rainbow Beach (Inskip Point)
at the southern end. Hervey
Bay is just 50 minutes by Air from Brisbane, Queensland's capital.
If you're driving, it's a comfortable three and a half hours drive north
from Brisbane to the Bay.

| Fraser
Island is an island in the real sense and has no bridges to the
mainland. Access is only possible by vehicular barges, passenger
launches, commercial tours, or fly direct to the doorstep to the
airstrip at Orchid Beach (charter flights available from most
towns including Hervey Bay, Maroochydore or Brisbane).
The most practical means of independent vehicle transport on
the island is by Four Wheel Drive. Four Wheel Drives can be
hired from either the mainland or the island.

|
To get your Four Wheel Drive over to Fraser, three vehicular barges
operate daily from Hervey Bay or you can catch a barge from Rainbow
Beach to Hook Point on the southern tip of the island.
